traveling for february

so i'm going to be traveling for most of february so my posts here will likely become even fewer and further between. to tide you over until my return, here is a picture of me throwing knives at Monica because i was not pleased she was taking pictures. due to my pinpoint accuracy (which can be seen in the picture), Monica is no longer among the living. oops.

Surprise Series #8

when i initially arrived in buenos aires, one of the aspects i was very excited about was the lack of significant time change. a little bit to the east, i only had a two hour difference between central time and me. then the united states decided to "fall back" as per usual creating a three hour gap. there was no change in argentine time so i figured it was just pulling an arizona and keeping one set time throughout the year instead of flip-flopping with the seasons. turns out this is not exactly the case.

on sunday, church always starts promptly at 10am. Elizabeth and i usually arrive a little late due to waiting for trains at the subway. turns out that this past sunday we were an hour late because argentines do change the time, but because it is summer here, we "sprung forward" and lost an hour. so we missed church. and so did the pastor who was supposed to be leading the service because he didn't know either. luckily, he was kind enough to stay and lead a shortened service for the three of us who still wanted to worship. he is a great guy.

so the lesson here: argentines spring forward on december 30 and i'm now four hours ahead of central time. weird.
